This course is designed for academics (PhDs, postdocs, and others) and professionals who already have basic experience with LCA and intend to bring their LCA competences to an advanced level.

Advanced LCA – Consequential and IO-based life cycle assessment

The course strengthens skills in life cycle inventory analysis and focuses on developing advanced LCA competencies through:

  • Problem-based learning (PBL): Emphasizing learning by doing and reflection.
  • Hybrid teaching: A combination of online and onsite sessions.
  • Flipped classroom approach:
    • Students receive materials (readings, videos) in advance.
    • Classroom/video meetings focus on Q&A, hands-on exercises, and discussions.

Activities include:

  • Intensive group work.
  • Problem defining and solving with real-world cases.
  • Practical exercises and discussion sessions.

The course content is structured into three modules.

PREREQUISITES

The target audience is academics (PhDs, postdoc, other) or professionals who already have basic experience with LCA and intend to bring their LCA competences to an advanced level. Basic experience means for example having carried out LCAs before or having prior knowledge of LCA theory.
